The Orthopedic is the medical specialty that destines it in the treatment of the illnesses and deformities of the bones, muscles, ligaments, joints, in short, related to the locomotive system. The Traumatology is the medical specialty that is directly related with the trauma of the system muscle. In Brazil the specialties are unified, receiving the name from “Orthopedic and Traumatology".

Exist diverse bone illnesses that independent of the trauma, as the bone cancer, congenital luxation and bone deformities that need treatment. Another important field of performance of the specialty is in the sports’ area, where the injuries are common and involve in general way the  muscle system, it is, the muscles, tendons, capsule and  articulate’s ligaments and the bones in the most diverse degrees of commitment".

The procedures carried through in the CECMI are:

- Syndrome of Carpo’s Tunnel
- Luxation of elbow, shoulder and knee
- Amputations
- Surgeries of bones of the arm and forearm
- Inclusion of prothesis
- Surgeries of the wrist and the hand
- Bone’s transplant
- Neurolysis, tenolysis, tenoplastia
- Removed of synthesis materials (screws, plates and bolts)
